A Journey of Friendship and Vision
The story of Mo’ona House begins with friendship, a bond that has stood the test of time. Faced with limited plot size and geometry, we envisioned a home that maximized living space creatively. We established a central axis in the living area, expanding the space with two perpendicular extensions. This axis featured two seating areas, extending from a cozy window seat to a stone sofa on the terrace.
The space flows seamlessly from the reading nook through the dining and living areas, covered sections, and out to the open seating by the facade. Natural stone flooring enhances this expansive feeling. In the living room, the sofa's position aligns with a cross-axis offering breathtaking views of the nearby mountain. From the dining area through the kitchen, another cross-axis extends north with strategic openings, creating a multidimensional space where each resident can find their place.
This philosophy extends to the bedroom and the secondary suite, creating cohesive living spaces throughout the home. When the project was completed and occupancy was granted, the owner and I sat by the window seat. She shared, for the first time, how she had envisioned her dream home as a little girl. Her heartfelt gratitude for helping fulfill that dream was deeply moving.
